Tkuma. Nova

Photo series, Tkuma, Israel, 2023

This series of photos explores a scrapyard of vehicles damaged during the October 7 attack. At the time, the cars were still being inspected by bomb squads, while volunteers searched for the remains of their owners inside. According to Jewish tradition, it is important to bury a person as intact as possible, and some of these cars will be buried alongside the victims. The images convey chaos, a sense of overwhelming destruction and disarray, capturing the violence that transformed everyday objects into haunting remnants of tragedy. They evoke feelings of loss, confusion, and the fragility of life amidst the wreckage.

This work was created as part of the #ArtistsStandWithIsrael project, organized by SVIVA and Kakdelart
